Trustive’s new mobile broadband connection app, Easy2roam, is now available

Posted by Trustive on July 29, 2010

Easy2roam, Trustive's Google Phone app for seamless mobile internet accessTrustive’s mobile broadband customers can now enjoy wireless roaming on both Trustive’s international WiFi hotspot and 3G networks on their Google (TM) phones!

Following the launch of its new mobile broadband internet service last month, Trustive is proud to announce the launch of a new connection management for Google(TM) phones that enables Trustive’s new mobile broadband internet customers to enjoy one click access to both Trustive’s WiFi and 3G networks in 110+ countries worldwide.

Trustive’s strategy has long been to provide seamless mobile internet access to travellers via a single click (one pass with a single username and password plus a range of WiFi clients for both computers and smartphones that automate the log in process). The introduction of this new combined mobile broadband internet pass offers customers greater flexibility and increased coverage, but ease of use remains of paramount importance for Trustive.

Christian VanGhelder, managing director for Trustive explains that “ease of access has always been a prime concern of Trustive customers and that’s why Trustive has invested heavily in developing a wide range of connection tools for the most popular devices on the market. It was therefore only natural for us to extend this range of connection software in order to bring seamless WiFi and 3G access to our mobile broadband internet customers.”

Easy2roam is now available for free download from the Android Market (TM) and enables mobile broadband customers to detect Trustive networks and connect quickly and easily either via WiFi or 3G, whichever the customer chooses. As with Trustive’s WiFi passes, the new mobile broadband internet service is based on a simple billing model that offers customers maximum control and cost predictability. A purely prepaid service that gives customers complete control over their credit, no hidden costs, an easy online top-up facility and 24/7 access to their account usage in real-time continue to be the primary advantages of a Trustive mobile internet access account. Now that Easy2roam for the Google (TM) phone has been released, all of these features are just one click away for mobile broadband customers too!

Trustive’s online WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory gets a makeover! See the results exclusively on www.trustive.com

Posted by Trustive on July 22, 2010

Trustive's new WiFi hotspot & 3G coverage directoryTrustive’s online WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory recently received an exciting makeover and is now packed with extra features designed to help customers plan than mobile internet usage, and in particular their WiFi usage, in advance.

Trustive’s strategy has long been to provide seamless mobile internet access to travellers and an integral part of this strategy has been providing customers with up-to-date information about Trustive’s WiFi hotspot and 3G network so that customers can plan their journeys and WiFi usage in advance and in confidence. Recently the subject of an exciting makeover, Trustive’s WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory is now looking better than ever and it’s available exclusively on www.trustive.com

In the beginning, Trustive’s WiFi hotspot data was presented in a simple list format but in October 2007, Trustive launched an innovative new hotspot locator that enabled customers to immediately see the locations of all Trustive hotspots near to a given address or postcode or pinpoint the location of a specific Trustive hotspot on a map. Then, earlier this year, Trustive’s hotspot locator tool received a much needed makeover in order to give customers even greater visibility of and information about Trustive’s international WiFi and 3G networks. This was achieved by enlarging the GoogleTM Map display area as well as by providing customers’ results in a scrolling list format for ease of reference. WiFi search results can be filtered by hotspot location type (airport, hotel, bar/restaurant, marina, campsite etc.) and chain (Hilton, Radisson, Best Western, McDonalds, Starbucks etc.) and then printed off or exported for use with GPS devices such as Tomtom, Navman, Garmin and Navigon.

Trustive’s WiFi hotspot network currently includes 140,000 WiFi hotspots in 110 countries and Trustive works closely with all its partners to ensure that its hotspot database is kept constantly up-to-date; in practical terms this means an average of at least 2 or 3 database updates per week. That’s why Trustive does not share its WiFi hotspot data with any independent WiFi hotspot directory websites; instead the data is presented exclusively on www.trustive.com.

Trustive customers can also access the official WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory by clicking on the corresponding links on MyHotspotter for Windows, MyHotspotter for Android (Google Phone) or Easy WiFi (Trustive’s WiFi connection software for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad).

Trustive soon to release new software to provide seamless mobile internet access on the iPad

Posted by Trustive on July 15, 2010

Last month Trustive was very proud to launch an innovative, new and completely prepaid mobile broadband internet service and Trustive will be extending this mobile internet connectivity to iPad users with the upcoming availability of micro 3G data roaming cards and the development of a new 3G connection app that is scheduled to be launched in the 4th quarter of 2010.

Seamless WiFi access is already available to iPad users thanks to Trustive’s Easy WiFi app, which facilitates the detection of and connection to Trustive’s international network of 140,000 premium WiFi hotspots, and whilst a combined app that manages both 3G and WiFi connectivity will soon be available for Google Phones, this is simply not feasible for the iPad. Trustive therefore plans on launching a 2nd application, purely for the iPad, that will manage connections to its 3G mobile broadband internet service.

Trustive’s strategy has long been to provide seamless mobile internet access to travellers via a single click (one pass, a single username and password plus a range of WiFi clients for both computers and smartphones that automate the log in process). The introduction of this new combined mobile broadband internet pass offers customers greater flexibility and increased coverage, but ease of use remains of paramount importance for Trustive.

Christian VanGhelder, managing director for Trustive explains that “Coverage, cost and easy access are the key concerns for travellers. That’s why complementing Trustive’s existing WiFi service (which now numbers 140,000 WiFi hotspots in 110+ countries, making Trustive the No1 WiFi access provider in Europe and probably the largest in the world too) with a 3G data roaming service was a natural progression for us.  We’re confident that by launching this new mobile broadband service and developing a range of applications to give customers one click access to both WiFi and 3G networks, our customers will be able to enjoy Trustive’s low-cost and completely prepaid, international data roaming solution whenever they travel.”

As with Trustive’s WiFi passes, the new mobile broadband internet service is based on a simple billing model that offers customers maximum control and cost predictability. A purely prepaid service that gives customers complete control over their credit, no hidden costs, an easy online top-up facility and 24/7 access to their account usage in real-time continue to be the primary advantages and once the new Google Phone MyHotspotter app and the iPad application have been launched, all of these features will be just one click away!

The beginning of the end for unlimited data plans!

Posted by Trustive on July 12, 2010

As expected, unlimited data plans are starting to be withdrawn from the market, with both AT&T and 02 announcing the end of such plans and the introduction of strict caps on data usage. Other mobile carriers like Verizon have also announced that tiered pricing is on the cards for their customers.

Apple have been quoted as stating that 98% of smartphone users consume less than 2GB of data per month, but with the arrival of the iPad, this is certain to change…. The iPad has a huge range of multimedia books, graphically complex games and impressive video streaming capabilities, not to mention the App Store with its range of 200,000 applications. The iPad is marketed specifically as a versatile and mobile online device and capping data usage will therefore hit the innate usability and portability of this device hard.

No-one in the industry wants customers to exceed their data usage limits and incur heavy charges. App developers are therefore starting to review their applications to make them lighter and mobile carriers are pushing WiFi to their customers.  Trustive has been working with mobile carriers like Vodafone SFR, Telefonica and Swisscom for many years in order to offload their customers’ data usage onto Trustive’s premium WiFi hotspot network; a network which includes 140,000 premium WiFi hotspots in 110 countries worldwide.
