Roam on Trustive WiFi when travelling in the UK!

Trustive, Europe’s leading WiFi access provider, continues to extend its international footprint in Singapore, USA, UK, Brazil & Malaysia and will soon offer WiFi access at 700,000 premium hotspots in 130 countries.

Travellers continue to rely on WiFi for internet access on the go and according to the last European Commission report on WiFi, 78% of mobile data traffic will be supported by WiFi in the near future.

Trustive, Europe’s leading WiFi access provider at premium sites, has also verified this trend on its own WiFi network. Since the beginning of the year, Trustive WiFi traffic has doubled, with the transfer of the business world from PCs to smartphones and tablets. This transfer is also correlated to the type of activity. In previous years that were marked by the use of PCs, email and Voice over IP accounted for over 80 % of usage. Today, email represents less than 20 % of traffic, giving way to video streaming and social networks.

Trustive’s current footprint extension incorporates selected prime new sites in regions that are popular with travellers. That is why in recent months Trustive’s network has been extended in England, Asia and Brazil and, in the coming months, will be extended in Singapore, Malaysia and across several major business cities in the U.S.A, including 20 international airports, 30,000 bars/restaurants, 5,000 shopping centres and many more premium venues.

“Trustive’s approach is different from the “crowd sourcing” employed by domestic operators, whereby a portion of customers’ domestic DSL boxes’ bandwidth is used to offload 3G data traffic from their own networks. Trustive is focusing on airports, hotels, bars and restaurants, bus and train stations, shopping centres, convention centres and outdoor-citywide networks in the most visited towns and cities. For those premium sites, network operators are identified, validated and secure interconnects set-up. Users can then be identified and authorized in accordance with the restrictions and legal requirements. A 24/7 support service for users and round the clock monitoring of the quality of service enables Trustive to constantly adjust and improve its network; on some hotspots hundreds of simultaneous users are recorded!” said Christian VanGhelder, managing director of Trustive.

For travellers using Android smartphones and tablets, access to Trustive’s global WiFi network can be done in a completely seamless way, with the immediate identification of and automatic connection to Trustive WiFi hotspots using “Trustive WiFi”; a free app available on the Play Store.

In support of the EU initiative to review roaming costs, Trustive launches the “Full Access Europe Pass” offering voice, SMS & mobile internet (WiFi & 3G) access services.

Posted by Trustive on July 5, 2013

The “Full Access Europe” service is a highly competitive new service, enabling travellers in Europe to save up to 85% on roaming costs.

Trustive Full access Europe pass, call, sms & surf in Europe

The “Full Access Europe” pass is the result of close cooperation between TravelSim, Guglielmo and Trustive, three of Europe’s leading operators. Now available exclusively via Trustive’s website (www.trustive.com), the “Full Access Europe” pass is a fully prepaid service with a clear pricing plan, which also offers travellers savings of up to 85% on their roaming costs.

The “Full Access Europe” pass is a prepaid package that includes free incoming calls & free incoming SMSs from 135 countries and free incoming calls for Skype users. In Europe, outgoing calls cost just 19 euro cents per minute & outgoing SMS’s 8 euro cents and 3G data costs 39 euro cents per MB. In addition, secured, free & unlimited WiFi will be provided at 10,000 premium hotspots in Europe, which will be easy to find with the Easy2Roam app’s embedded locator.

Combining a SIM card with a free application, Easy2Roam (for Android smartphones), the “Full Access Europe” pass is both easy and secure because it’s the data stored on the SIM card that is used to provide automatic user authentication to both cellular and WiFi networks. There is, therefore, no need to enter any password or perform any kind of manual sign up procedure.

At the moment, travellers are advised to “switch off data roaming” as they travel in order to avoid prohibitive bills from their domestic operator upon their return. It is up to the individual traveller to find WiFi hotspots, which is not always easy or convenient with local portal venues in different languages and having to provide credit card details each time. Alternatively, travellers can opt for the challenging task of sourcing local SIM cards for each country they visit so that they can continue to use their smartphones on the road; this option is also time consuming or impossible in many countries.

“At Trustive, we’ve been trying to address this issue for a number of years now. We prefer “prepaid” solutions that provide online balance information in real-time, so that travellers can avoid the bad surprises associated with subscription models. Trustive has aggregated 80+ premium WiFi operators into one unified and secured network. With the new “Full Access Europe” pass, we aim to offer truly transparent and automatic access to both cellular and WiFi networks for anyone travelling in Europe using a “SIM unlocked” or dual SIM Android smartphone. We believe that our pricing model is also pointing the way for savings and simplification” said Christian VanGhelder, managing director of Trustive.

“Full Access Europe” – one SIM card and one prepaid account for Android smartphones – is all travellers now need to stay in touch with business colleagues, friends and family and to save money. For more information, please visit www.trustive.com

300,000 premium WiFi hotspots are now available to Trustive customers

Posted by Trustive on September 6, 2011

Trustive announces the consolidation of its international WiFi hotspot network in Europe, Asia & Latin America.

Trustive, a leading international WiFi access provider and No1 in Europe, is very pleased to announce another significant expansion to its international WiFi footprint. This most recent increase to 300,000 premium WiFi hotspots is primarily the result of the consolidation in Trustive’s leadership position in Europe (new network extensions in the UK, France and Eastern block countries) and also in Trustive’s newly developed markets such as Latin America and Asian.

“Trustive’s growth strategy is to continue to propose comprehensive coverage at quality hotspots in both Europe (our traditional stronghold) and fast growing markets such as Russia, Asia and Latin America” stated Christian VanGhelder, managing director of Trustive. “The WiFi hotspot business has become hot again due to an unprecedented need for broadband services by smartphone (e.g. iPhone & Android) and tablet users. The demand for bandwidth to sustain these customers’ expectations is way above and beyond that required by mobile phone customers. The smartphone and tablet users’ desire to stream TV, videos or digital radio whilst on the move means that everyone is quickly becoming experts at comparing WiFi and 3G services, understanding the associated costs and the implications in terms of speed and quality of service.”

Trustive customers have very little interest in complex billing algorithms. Trustive therefore takes the strain for the customer by combining the hotspot locations of more than 80+ leading WiFi operators into one unified, global network of 300,000+ WiFi hotspots in 130 countries and providing Trustive customers with seamless access to these locations using a simple pricing model.

This WiFi footprint is accessible automatically with the WiFi software (available for various devices via www.trustive.com) that detects and connects to Trustive WiFi hotspots. For up-to-date information about Trustive’s WiFi coverage, customers can consult Trustive’s online WiFi hotspot locator (www.trustive.com/hotspots/).

Trustive’s online WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory gets a makeover! See the results exclusively on www.trustive.com

Posted by Trustive on July 22, 2010

Trustive's new WiFi hotspot & 3G coverage directoryTrustive’s online WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory recently received an exciting makeover and is now packed with extra features designed to help customers plan than mobile internet usage, and in particular their WiFi usage, in advance.

Trustive’s strategy has long been to provide seamless mobile internet access to travellers and an integral part of this strategy has been providing customers with up-to-date information about Trustive’s WiFi hotspot and 3G network so that customers can plan their journeys and WiFi usage in advance and in confidence. Recently the subject of an exciting makeover, Trustive’s WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory is now looking better than ever and it’s available exclusively on www.trustive.com

In the beginning, Trustive’s WiFi hotspot data was presented in a simple list format but in October 2007, Trustive launched an innovative new hotspot locator that enabled customers to immediately see the locations of all Trustive hotspots near to a given address or postcode or pinpoint the location of a specific Trustive hotspot on a map. Then, earlier this year, Trustive’s hotspot locator tool received a much needed makeover in order to give customers even greater visibility of and information about Trustive’s international WiFi and 3G networks. This was achieved by enlarging the GoogleTM Map display area as well as by providing customers’ results in a scrolling list format for ease of reference. WiFi search results can be filtered by hotspot location type (airport, hotel, bar/restaurant, marina, campsite etc.) and chain (Hilton, Radisson, Best Western, McDonalds, Starbucks etc.) and then printed off or exported for use with GPS devices such as Tomtom, Navman, Garmin and Navigon.

Trustive’s WiFi hotspot network currently includes 140,000 WiFi hotspots in 110 countries and Trustive works closely with all its partners to ensure that its hotspot database is kept constantly up-to-date; in practical terms this means an average of at least 2 or 3 database updates per week. That’s why Trustive does not share its WiFi hotspot data with any independent WiFi hotspot directory websites; instead the data is presented exclusively on www.trustive.com.

Trustive customers can also access the official WiFi hotspot and 3G coverage directory by clicking on the corresponding links on MyHotspotter for Windows, MyHotspotter for Android (Google Phone) or Easy WiFi (Trustive’s WiFi connection software for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad).

The beginning of the end for unlimited data plans!

Posted by Trustive on July 12, 2010

As expected, unlimited data plans are starting to be withdrawn from the market, with both AT&T and 02 announcing the end of such plans and the introduction of strict caps on data usage. Other mobile carriers like Verizon have also announced that tiered pricing is on the cards for their customers.

Apple have been quoted as stating that 98% of smartphone users consume less than 2GB of data per month, but with the arrival of the iPad, this is certain to change…. The iPad has a huge range of multimedia books, graphically complex games and impressive video streaming capabilities, not to mention the App Store with its range of 200,000 applications. The iPad is marketed specifically as a versatile and mobile online device and capping data usage will therefore hit the innate usability and portability of this device hard.

No-one in the industry wants customers to exceed their data usage limits and incur heavy charges. App developers are therefore starting to review their applications to make them lighter and mobile carriers are pushing WiFi to their customers.  Trustive has been working with mobile carriers like Vodafone SFR, Telefonica and Swisscom for many years in order to offload their customers’ data usage onto Trustive’s premium WiFi hotspot network; a network which includes 140,000 premium WiFi hotspots in 110 countries worldwide.
